I grew up and attended high school in suburban Chicago. After obtaining a BS in Physics from Caltech, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, obtaining MS degrees in Nuclear Engineering and Electrical Engineering. I then had a rewarding career in microelectronics, working primarily for Hewlett-Packard, Fairchild Semiconductor, and Motorola (now Freescale Semiconductor).
In 2009 I made the decision to return to graduate school, and obtained a PhD in astrophysics from New York University in Sept, 2014. In Oct, 2014, I began a Postdoctoral appointment at UC Davis working on the CCD detectors for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, and am currently a researcher at UC Davis, working both in Davis and in La Serena, Chile. My wife Sharon and I are enjoying the many cycling opportunites in the Davis area.
